New Free One In A Googolplex EP

Only a few months have passed since we released One In A Googolplex’s excellent LP Win Win and now the ever prolific Sebastian Zimmer (with full band on board) have a new free 4 track EP Last A Lightyear. The first thing that strikes you here is the fullness of the new fleshed out band’s sound. Gone are the rustic intimate synth folk sounds of OIAG past and in their place, a more rock oriented array of drums, bass and guitar greets your ears. It’s a cool new side to the bands sound and it’s kind of a logical progression of Sebastian’s song writing as it moves into full blown pop mode (ie “Lilly“). Fans of OIAG’s cosmic, positive and twee lyrics and the unique timbre of Sebastian’s voice will be glad to find those still intact here. ‘Win Win’ out today!

One In A Googolplex’s radical badical new LP Win Win is out today. Stream and purchase a copy here. We also have a new free track for you to get into. It’s called You Were A Mess When You Were Seventeen, which can probably be said of most. It hangs in a similar indie dance mode as Lilly, with house organs and beats but it has a few tricks up it’s sleeve. Check it out:

One In A Googolplex goes live!

Yes folks it’s true, our pop maestro from Cologne, Sebastian Zimmer and his new full band version of One In A Googolplex are playing their first ever live show on August 20th. The new band line up consists of Jan-Hendrik Heuer (drums), Manfred Rump (guitar) and Fabian Schick (bass) which opens up some exciting possibilities for bringing OIAG’s stellar and quite pleasingly full arrangements to the stage. The gig is part of a summer festival in Cologne. No exact start time yet but OIAG is supposed to play sometime in the afternoon. More info can be found here.

New One In A Googolplex LP ‘Win Win’ out Sept. 6!!

Last year Sebastian Zimmer of One In A Googolplex dropped his excellent 3rd LP ‘The Dropout Cats‘ and then shortly thereafter he gave us an equally excellent single ‘Lilly‘. Now on September 6th OIAG is set to deliver their (now expanded to a full band) 4th awesome long player titled ‘Win Win’ which delivers handsomely on the promise of ‘Lilly’! Sebastian again pulls off the feat of making a modern pop album full of endearingly heartfelt and humble songs that span a range of sonic terrain but maintain the consistent OIAG vibe we have come to love. With the additions of the voice of Lisa Weigel, percussion by David Fernández del Campo and guitar by Manfred Rump new elements have made their way into Sebastian’s world with much welcomed results. Of course the songs from the single ‘Lilly’ and ‘My Sister’s Poems’ are great but their are lot’s of new gems on this to sink your teeth into. ‘Make My Cat Happy’ and ‘You Were a Mess When You Were Seventeen’ are more electro pop jammers in the vein of ‘Lilly’ but there are also lot’s of good introspective melodic numbers like ‘Watermelon’, ‘Tiger Lion Bear’, and ‘Fiddlesticks’. With ‘Win Win’ One In A Googolplex have continued their trend of making outstanding alt. pop records that make you think, feel and not be afraid or too cool to feel positive.

Alchemist Video Series1: One In A Googolplex

Over the next few weeks we’ll be debuting some informal videos of Alchemist artists doing their thing. First up will be a rare glimpse at the German maestro One In A Googolplex doing a new tune “Tiger Lion Bear”! Sebastian reports that he has formed an OIAG band and is preparing for some live events in the near future. He also reports that his next record is coming along nicely and may be out before years end! For now we have this cool mellow video to kick off our Alchemist Video Series1. Enjoy and pass along.
