On March 30th we will be releasing the debut album “Meskin in the Attic” by the mysterious man who records under the name Illus Ocean. Pulled from a “greatest hits” of a number of his unreleased albums ranging from a Country tinged album about Redneck Vampires on LSD to the psychedelic pop of of a stint with Dallas/Ft. Worth band Washing Machine, this album is a major trip! Lovers of lo-fi garage pop will really dig it but it contains a little something for everyone. Imagine David Bowie, Roger Waters and The Cure collaborating with The Beatles (ca. Magical Mystery Tour) and you might start to get an idea of what to expect. It doesn’t take itself to seriously and is humorous at times but also contains deep emotion, darkness and depth. The man behind Illus Ocean is somewhat elusive but we will endeavor to give you more details soon.

March 5th, 2010I and I’s debut “We Are” out digitally
February 23rd, 2010This year marks the 5th anniversary of I and I’s debut album “We Are” and to celebrate we are giving the album a proper digital release for the first time. Preston Jones of the OK Gazette called it “an exceptional and essential disc” and “the closest thing to space travel you’re likely to slip into your CD player” (they still had CD players back then:). We got some free downloads to wet your appetite.

Seven Lives and Tasty Mice
February 3rd, 2010Straight out of Germany, Sebastian of One in a Googolplex has graced us with two new songs for an upcoming digital single. “Seven Lives and Tasty Mice” backed with “Just Like You” continue with the strengths of his first two releases but move in a heavier, more beat oriented direction. Their is also a strong 8 bit, glitchy element to these songs that provides a nice contrast to the sonorous vocals. The lyrics and art take the cosmic element of OiaG to a new astral plane! The blogoshpere seems to be liking the new tunes. Popstereo said “Broken hearted, broken pop made with broken synths have truly never sounded so good.” The single will be out next Tues. the 9th and next week we’ll be posting a video for “Just Like You” until then here’s an alternate version of the cover art.

New Eric Sarmiento single “Strange Power/So She Says” out now
November 16th, 2009The previously mentioned new single from Eric Sarmiento is now available digitally. Download a free e-booklet for the songs, listening and links to buy the tracks here. The songs are getting some high praise from the blogosphere. Here are a sample of some of what is being said:
laughing evergreens
Laughing Evergreens blog from Israel seems to have grokked the essence of the songs. Here is a snippet of his post:
“Relationships… where do I start? The complexity of interacting with other people over time and context seems to rise in rate equaling that of entropy filling the universe. The results of both processes, gaping holes of pain, may be similar as well on some cases. In other cases, the serene stars littered skies, each in its own place, seem to present a working unified system. But humans defy the cosmos and its mathematical laws; friend is sometimes foe, kin betrays kin, love is found in the most unlikely places.”
Let us know what you think of the new tunes with a comment here or drop Eric a line at his myspace.
